ACREX INDIA 2016 demonstrates the potential of the Domestic HVAC&R industry through sustained growth in manufacturing

South Asia’s largest exhibition on Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Refrigerating and Building services once again, successfully showcased the manufacturing potential of the domestic HVAC&R industry through ACREX INDIA 2016. The exhibition spread over three days at the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC), witnessed a record more than 400 exhibitors and 34,597 visitors. Guests & exhibitors alike benefited by participating through networking & knowledge sharing which spread over a display area of 35,000 sq.mts. The largest ever for ACREX India.
ACREX INDIA 2016 kicked off with a panel discussion on “Importance of Design and Architecture for Sustainability, Big Savings and Performance in the Long Run” .The discussion was designed to Promote ACREX INDIA’s vision of energy sustainability. The distinguished panelist included Mr. Arun Bhatia, Managing Director, UTC –Climate Controls & Security; Mr. Anuj Agarwal, Head, Infrastructure Management & Service Group, ICICI Bank. Ltd. Mr. Rajan Rawal, Executive Director, Centre for Advanced Research in Building Science & Energy; Mr. T David Underwood, P.Eng, Fellow ASHRAE Life Member, Mr. PRP Ramakrishnan, Area Director of Engineering –South Asia, Marriot International; Mr. Pankaj Dharkar, Chair, Steering Committee of ACREX India 2016. Primary discussions revolved around Building management, performance & the related technology innovations, challenges in end to end mergers.
The event witnessed an increase in global participation by major players. Special designated areas called “country pavilions” were created to accommodate participants from Germany, USA, China and Turkey. These pavilions provided a great opportunity for domestic manufacturers & SME’s to ideate, network & get an understanding of current worldwide trends in designing, energy sustainability & the related product innovations primarily developed around air quality & refrigeration.
Overall ACREX India 2016 witnessed further participation from countries which included
Korea, Japan, England, UK, France, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand,
Thailand, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Malaysia, Vietnam and many more.
For the first time this year ACREX 2016 organized an important evening event - ACREX Hall
of Fame. The event recognized key initiatives by the industry around energy sustainability &
Green initiatives. ACREX Awards of Excellence – recognition of product innovations &
green technology & for the first time conceptualized by Danfoss, the hall of fame was
introduced at the ACREX INDIA 2016. An award designed to encourage the Make India
initiative, primarily designed to encourage & recognize success stories in the domestic
HVAC& R manufacturing.
Among the 100 nominations, 5 participants were shortlisted. The
parameters included Energy efficiency, Healthy environment, Architecture/Art, Conducive
environment for employees & visitors. The trophy was awarded to the GVK group of
companies: Winner of the ACREX Hall of Fame, recognized for their outstanding
contribution to the creation of a Masterpiece - Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd.
Another first was, the exhibition served as a Global Networking Platform for the industry with
heads of international associations which included Associazione Italiana Frigoristi, The
Federation of Thai Industries, Turkish HVAC-R Exporters Union, AIR CONDITIONING &
REFRIGERATION MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION, American Society of Heating,
Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Society of Environmental Engineering,
Eurammom, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Club, Chinese Association of
Refrigeration.
Among the most exciting elements of ACREX India Show, ISHRAE also organized aQuest -
A Student Quiz Competition for the second year in a row sponsored by Hitachi. The quiz
is primarily designed to introduce engineering students to the HVAC&R industry. ISHRAE
promotes innovation, guidelines for indoor air quality & energy efficiency amongst other
initiatives. The need for adequate training & skill development has been recognized by
ISHRAE & the HVAC&R industry.
ACREX India 2016 presented a series of educative sessions during the three day event at the
venue. These knowledge sessions provided an opportunity to gain the much needed market
insights from professionals in the industry and acted as a platform to interact and share
thoughts between the industry experts and attendees. The Workshops and Seminars were
conducted by Eminent and Internationally acclaimed experts from the industry and
provided a rare opportunity to the participants to learn, share expertise and hone their skills
on the latest trends and topics related to HVAC&R industry. The three day event
witnessed various workshops which were organized to address issues relating to industries
like dairy, horticulture, food & vegetables included:
- Air distribution & heat load
- Tall, Super tall and Mega tall building systems design
- Design of Cold storage as a part of cold storage
- Reducing building energy conducted by REHVA, the European Associations for
Heating Ventilating and Air conditioning
- An Architect and Developer Interaction –a panel Discussion towards convergence
- Fire & Safety inside Glass Facades, conducted by FSAI, Fire safety Association
